New Garage Floor Restoration | Arcola Firehouse

Check out our recent garage floor restoration at the Arcola Firehouse in Arcola, VA. Known as Company 9, the new Arcola Firehouse is located near Brambelton at address 23675 Belmont Ridge Road, Suite 100, Brambleton, Virginia, 20148.

The Arcola Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department was initially formed in 1957. A station was built, and its first piece of fire equipment, a 1,250-gallon Tanker truck, was purchased through the Civil Defense for $75. In the 1960s, the first ambulance was put in service, and the Ladies Auxiliary was formed.

In 2013, Company 9 relocated to its current location at 23675 Belmont Ridge, Rd. The old firehouse we helped restore the flooring is located closeby on Gumsprings Road.

They recently needed the garage floor restored and sealed and contacted the Tactical Garages & More team! We were extremely pleased with how this project turned out and have shared some photos with you below!

Firestation in Arcola Garage Floor Project

This epoxy garage floor project was one we really enjoyed. The wide open spaces were fun to work in but also provided challenges when it comes to staging and completing the concrete floor restoration.

One of the top solutions for concrete floors, basements, and more is the epoxy and flake solution, which provides a clean surface that looks great! It also increases the lifespan significantly so it made sense to use it with the Arcola Firestation.

The video shows the size of the project and the final result. The average two-car garage bay in the neighborhood is 12 feet by 22-24 feet. However, in this case, the commercial garage floor of a fire station like the one in Arcola is equivalent to a home having a 10+ car garage.

Firetrucks and ambulances require lots of space, and we were super pleased not only with how well everything turned out but also we were happy to help our local firefighters.

Did you know this about Arcola, VA? You might be familiar with Arcola and Gumsprings Road; Arcola is in southeastern Loudoun County, on the north side of U.S. Route 50. However, the genesis of Arcola was that a small spring next to a gum tree fed into the south fork of the Broad Run river, suitably called “Gum Springs.”

The Process of Expoxy Garage Flooring

Our process for epoxy and flaking a garage floor like the one in Arcola requires planning, staging, and implementation.

The entire process starts with first measuring the size of the garage floor we are restoring and noting severe cracks, dents, or missing chunks to restore. After planning on restoring damaged areas to concrete, we get to work.

We first start by deep cleaning the floors using a few methods, from diamond grinding to shot blasting. After the deep cleaning, we fix any serious issues mentioned above. Once the garage floor is cleaned and prepped – keeping in mind the areas we don’t want to epoxy – we get to work.

First, the epoxy coating is applied in stages while providing proper drying times before flaking. Once the flakes are applied, the floor must sit before being able to be used again. And just like that, you have a restored floor! Old concrete looks amazing with this epoxy coating process!
